Bernard de Nully, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Trades and Labour Union, has thanked members of the public for their support following a break-in at his Paradise View home that left his 81-year-old father, affectionately known as Yves, hospitalized with fractured bones and internal swelling.

In a statement, de Nully said three young men broke into the house on Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2026, and assaulted his father during the incident.

“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge how the Almighty Father is always in control, even in the face of adversity,” de Nully said.

He extended thanks to those who reached out following the incident.

“To the many persons who have reached out to me in support, solidarity and guidance to keep a positive mindset, and who have wished my father a full recovery and continued good health, I say thank you, much appreciated,” he said.

De Nully said his father remains hospitalized and is being treated for the injuries sustained during the assault.
